Using Your Intuition for Directions

Real story: How I went from lost in downtown Detroit before cell phones to finding the highway in 2 minutes by following my inner guidance.

The Story: Lost in Detroit Before GPS

When you learn to connect to your intuition, you can use it absolutely everywhere – even for directions.

When I first started learning Inner Guidance Communication, I would practice by going “adventuring.” When my kids were with their dad for the weekend, I would get in the car and just drive. Turn left when guided left, turn right when guided right. No map. No plan. Just following.

It was how I built trust in my ability to hear guidance.

One day I was in downtown Detroit. This was before cell phones and navigation systems. I took a wrong turn and ended up lost in a neighborhood where you would not want to get out of the car and ask for directions.

I remembered what I had been practicing. I took a deep breath and said out loud, “Please get me out of here.”

Then I calmed myself down enough to ask, “Where do I turn?”

I heard, “Turn right at the next street.”

I turned right when I was guided to and turned left when I was guided to.

Within two minutes, my guidance led me right to the entrance of the highway and I was on my way home.

Your Divine Mind knows the way.

Why Your Intuition Is Better Than GPS for Life

GPS can tell you how to get from A to B. Your Divine Mind knows:

  • The safest way, not just the fastest way
  • When to go and when to wait
  • What you need to see or who you need to meet along the way
  • How to get you out of situations that feel lost – in driving and in life

That day in Detroit taught me a lesson I still use today. When I feel lost – whether it’s literally lost while driving or lost in a life decision – the process is the same: Pause. Breathe. Ask. Follow the next step.

You don’t need to know the whole route. You just need the next turn.

How to Practice Using Your Intuition for Directions

1. Start small when you are not stressed: When you know the way, ask anyway. “What is the best way to go today?” Notice if you are guided to a different route. See what happens.
2. When you feel lost, calm first: Anxiety blocks guidance. Take 3 slow breaths and say, “Please show me the way.” Then ask, “Where do I turn?”
3. Listen for simple instructions: Guidance for directions is usually very simple – “turn right,” “go straight,” “park here.” Follow one step at a time.
4. Use it for life directions too: “What is the next step for my health / work / relationship?” Your Divine Mind will give you the next turn, just like on the road.

Feeling lost in a life decision?

Whether it’s which direction to drive or which direction to take your life, your Divine Mind knows the way. You don’t have to figure it out alone.
